‘Gears of War: Ultimate Edition’ Outed by Brazil Rating

When gamers are quizzed on exclusive triple-A titles for Microsoft’s Xbox the first franchise that comes to mind is Halo – the second series, however, is often Gears of War. The once Epic Games-owned property has been praised for its slick cover-based mechanics, but the the last entry in the franchise, Gears of War Judgment, disappointed both commercially and critically.

Now it seems that Microsoft is getting back to basics with its newly obtained I.P., as a revamped version for the original Gears of War has been ousted by a Brazilian content rating.

Officially dubbed Gears of War: Ultimate Edition by the Brazil Advisory Rating Board, the game seems to only reconfirm recent reports that the franchise’s initial installment is set to arrive on the Xbox One as somewhat of a stop gap in the wait for Black Tusk Studios’ first take on the beloved series.

This latest development just cements recent reports that Microsoft has had this remastered version of the classic Xbox 360 title in development for quite some time already, and it would seem as if that is indeed the case. Given the fact that gaming site Polygon has already claimed to have seen the unannounced Gearstitle in action, not to mention that it has now been officially rated in Brazil, it would appear that fans are in for an official unveiling of the game at E3 2015.

There are, understandably, a number of questions that fans will have about a remastered version of the game that first introduced Marcus Fenix and the rest of Delta Squad to gamers. Largely, concerns over the quality of the alleged title’s multiplayer following the less-than-stellar debut of the latest Microsoft-sanctioned remaster, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, could be called into question.

Still, the premise of once again revving up the chainsaw on the end of the iconic Lancer and playing through the game that kickstarted a beloved franchise should be more than enticing to longtime followers. Of course, an additional coat of paint to welcome the series to a new generation of consoles would be far from a horrible incentive for gamers to grab the third-person shoot ’em up on Xbox One.

Are you excited by the potential for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One? What would you like to see added to the remastered title? Get at us in the comments.
