As anticipated when presenting The Devil’s Rejects and its members we would like to know more about each of them. We start with the team Captain, FlamePrincess69.
When did you run into Gears Of War and why you liked it more than other games?
I ran into gears around the time Gears of War 3 came out. I remember I had two friends in high school who ditched school so they could attend the midnight release and play the campaign all night. I remember going over to one of the friends house after school and they were still there, still playing out of sheer devotion. I asked them what was the big fuss; they filled me in with the basics. Marcus, Dom, the Locust. I didn’t think too much of it.
At the moment I only had consoles like the Playstation 1, the GameCube, and the Wii. So when my little brother got a used Xbox 360 off of craiglist, it came with an array of used games. One of the games; Gears of War the Collectors edition, which included the art books and different stuff about the game. I played it, cried for Kim, searched for Maria, and defeated Raam. It was just overall amazing game play and story telling.
What about your gameplay style? More skills or more tactics? More Flames or more of a Princess?
I’m definitely a rusher, and my teammates yell at me for it. But I live for my wall bounce. I rely on my skill 90% of the time. Definitely more flame than princess. I am so not a princess, I use the name ironically. I am the furthest thing from being a princess, let alone a lady. Definitely more flame.
In relation to the last question, which game mode do you like the most?
It’s hard to choose, but if I had to go with something that’s not a special event or anything like that I would have to say Team Death Match, because its more tactical and it forces me to stop rushing and think, especially when you’re last man out. But if i could choose a a special event, I would say One Shot, One Kill. My sniping game is weak, and it gives me the opportunity and challenge to get better and that’s what I love.
Please spend some thoughts on the last title of the franchise, Gears Of War Ultimate Edition.
I enjoy Gears of War Ultimate Edition on occasion. You always have to have patience with Gears of War. No matter what. If I didn’t have connectivity issues, whether it be lagging or just other players sponging shots, it would be a dream, but nothings perfect. I do however enjoy that it reminded every gears player where we started. How we can’t just wall bounce mid air and reminding us that gears is a game of tactics and strategy. Taking us back to the roots and making every shot count.
At the moment you are the Leader of the The Devil’s Reject Team, sponsored by COG Anonymous community. How you came to the idea to make a step towards the competitive gaming and how you play your role of leadership?
I was actually in two clans prior to making the leap toward to start my own. They were great but they’re main games weren’t gears. So after some support from my teammates, we made the decision collectively and thus The Devil’s Rejects were born. As far as my leadership role, its not that important. Whats important is my teammates and what they do. I’m just there to motivate and bring out the best out of them. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t even be their leader, I wouldn’t even be a competitive gamer.
You have been featured on Gears Ink initiative by The Coalition. Tell us something about how you got involved and how things went.
This was actually pretty crazy. My Co captain and myself received a message on Instagram about a documentary involving a video game, and that was all the information we got. The director chose us and 2 other people to be involved with the project, we were excited and really lucky. After they told us what we were doing, it was very hush hush because we new about Gear of War Ultimate Edition before it was announced. Basically since we were hardcore fans that got Gears of War tattoos, they wanted to remaster our tattoos and ask us why we love playing gears. One thing that was definitely cool, was that when we came back from taking a break from the needle and walked back inside the tattoo shop, they had an xbox set up with the gears load screen. We were so excited, that’s probably the best thing that can happen to a hard core fan; to be able to play your favorite game before it even was announced. It was just one of the best things that could have ever happened.
What Gears Of War represents to you today and how you feel you belong to the Gears Family?
Gears of War is a something I play everyday. Its almost a ritual. If I’m stressed, gears. If I’m feeling down, or angry; gears. It’s a big part of my life, and like I told Gears Ink, if it weren’t for gears i wouldn’t be with my boyfriend today. We’re both huge fans so its a major component of our relationship.
What you see in your future with The Devil’s Rejects?
You know when I started this clan I didn’t think too much of it. I really thought that it would be for fun, to play with people and meet new people. Now that we’re getting this affiliation with COG anonymous, it doesn’t seem true. Nevertheless I’m super excited and I feel like this is only the beginning. I just want the best for my team and whatever they want I want to be able to get that for them.
